Grow a candy cane garden! All you need is some magic seeds and Christmas snow (any “soil” will work).

Make a hole in the snow and plant 2-3 seeds in each hole

Space them about 3 inches apart

Cover with snow

If planted on Christmas Eve check your garden first thing in the morning to find a garden full of freshly grown candy canes! Otherwise, it may take a day or two.

Grownup instructions:

~~Help your child make the magic seeds by breaking a candy cane into pieces

Or

~~Use candy coated sunflower seeds

~~Follow instructions above

~~Then when your child is away or asleep

~~ “Plant” completely wrapped candy canes in their place (the seeds will melt in snow)

~~Be just as amazed as your child, this will become a very treasured family tradition!

Candy Cane Seeds

I once knew a gardener who could grow
Bright tasty candies right out of the snow.
I asked him to share his secret with me
And this is what he said quite readily

To garden in winter is difficult you see
It takes lots of care and a very special seed.
I'll give you some, to grow your own treats
You'll soon reap a harvest of candy cane sweet

Christmas Seeds

Though you can't really sow them
And they won't produce a tree
I hope this pack of Christmas Seeds
Will bring you winter cheer.

Just "plant" one gently on your tongue
And if it makes you grow a smile
Then all is well with Christmas
Cause the seeds have hit their spot.

Variation:

Plant skittles to grow a rainbow!

Just put them in a baggie
