3 inflated round balloons
1 cup sugar*
1 cup hot water*
white yarn
thin twigs
Top hat
Glue

*Note: Instead of sugar and hot water as a stiffener, you can use glue

~~Mix the hot water and the sugar together, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.

~~ While the sugar mixture cools, blow up the balloons, one slightly larger (the body)

~~Wrap the string around the balloons individually until covered (you should still be able to see some of the balloon)

~~Pour the sugar mixture into a bowl.

~~Dunk and rotate the balloons into it until they are completely wet

~~Carefully hang the balloons until the sugar mixture completely dries.

~~Hang them over a matt to catch the drips

~~When the string is completely dry (about 24 hours), pop the balloon

~~Carefully remove the balloon from inside the string.

~~Cut away (or make a dent) the string around the top of the largest ball so that the smaller ball will fit snugly in to it.

~~Glue the balls together.

~~Draw the snowman’s face and buttons

~~Insert a twig on either side for his arms

~~Secure with glue

~~Add a hat and scarf to complete

~~Secure with glue

~~Let dry

HINTS:

The size of the balloon will be the size of your ball.

So if you want a small snowman use the smallest balloons.

If you want a giant snowman, use extra large balloons and adjust the amount of materials so you have enough.

The sugar mixture should give your snowman sparkle or you can sprinkle glitter on it while still wet.
